MEET THE PARTNERS
VMWD - project coordinator
The German Maritime Industry Association (VMWD) was formed following the merger of the Federal Association of the Water Sports Industry (BVWW) and the German Boat and Shipbuilders’ Association (DBSV). The association brings together manufacturers, importers, specialist retailers and service providers from across the entire spectrum of the maritime sector: sailing, motorboating, canoeing, surfing, diving, charter, equipment and accessories, as well as boat and yacht surveyors. As an umbrella organisation with pooled industry expertise, the VMWD represents the interests of its members vis-à-vis national and European policymakers, authorities and institutions – with the aim of representing Germany’s maritime economy with a single, unified voice.
The aim of the professional association is to accompany construction projects for marinas with substantial expertise. The focus is primarily on infrastructure planning, taking into account sustainable aspects such as the use of renewable energies or the use of sustainable building materials.

The German Maritime Foundation creates synergies of knowledge and acting by involving science, economy, politics and society. The foundation sees itself as a moderator in the interdisciplinary dialogue between those responsible from environmental policy, raw materials and energy industries, from science and education, nature conservation and culture as well as from shipping, fishing, tourism and sport on the sustainable economic use of the seas.
They act as contact persons for ocean issues and promote the transfer of comprehensive knowledge about the use and protection of the oceans. The aim is to create a broad “seaconsciousness“: in political decision-makers, in opinion-makers, in the economy, in the general population and, above all, in the youth in order to achieve better ocean and maritime environmental protection.
