EnviroNaut 2.0 - Advancing Environmental Skills in Nautical Tourism

EnviroNaut 2.0 is an innovative European project designed to strengthen environmental skills, sustainability practices, and vocational education within the nautical tourism sector. Building on the success of the original EnviroNaut project, the initiative supports workers, trainees, and businesses in adopting environmentally responsible practices that contribute to cleaner seas, healthier marine ecosystems, and a more sustainable blue economy.

As environmental regulations, sustainability standards, and stakeholder expectations continue to evolve, the nautical tourism sector requires a workforce equipped with up-to-date environmental knowledge and practical sustainability skills.

EnviroNaut 2.0 addresses this need by expanding the implementation and use of the EnviroNaut training programme and strengthening its integration into vocational education and training (VET) systems.

What is EnviroNaut 1.0?

The original EnviroNaut project developed the first curriculum and modular online training course for the qualification of Environmental Officer in Nautical Tourism.

The course provided specialised environmental training for professionals working in marinas, sea schools, watersport clubs, skipper services, and boat maintenance companies, while also introducing a comprehensive Ocean Literacy module to improve understanding of marine ecosystems and environmental challenges.

The project laid the foundation for a more environmentally aware and skilled workforce capable of supporting the transition towards a sustainable and resilient nautical tourism sector.
